On June 26 members of the American Legion/Auxiliary provided lunch for the personnel of the Department of Public Safety. Post Commander James Walton indicated that both Post and Auxiliary members thought it was critical to support our local law enforcement in these difficult times. Pictured are Post / Auxiliary members along with personnel from the Department of Public Safety. Tommy, Nate and Danny did a great job of cooking and Walmart made a meat donation. Everyone did a great job with this event

May 17th American Legion Meeting Canceled

Attention Members of American Legion Post 114:

Out of an abundance of caution the American Legion meeting scheduled for May 17th has been canceled.  This decision was made after consulting with several of our members, especially some of our more senior members; they were concerned about attending or would not be attending at all.  This cancellation is in line with the canceling of district and Aux unit meetings.

Our most pressing issue is the nomination and election of officers, I have spoken with the Judge Advocate and we need to make sure this happens in our June 16th meeting.   The Nominating Committee has almost completed a full slate of candidates for our positions.   If you would like to be nominated for a position or make sure you’re on the slate contact Blair, Barry, Larry or me.

National and Department has canceled American League baseball for 2020, our post usually pays to support one team in this program.  Locally the coaches are trying to save this summer youth program and are continuing to organize the teams for 2020.  They would like the post to continue with the plan to hold a Fish Fry to generate funds for the program.

Our club room open today and there is been a great deal of work done to the building, cleaning, fixing, replacing  and painting; Not only to the club but also the Legion Hall.  This work has been done using the bartenders, Brandon and just a few individuals.   As soon as the virus danger dies down we will be having some bigger work days to continue on this process.

The last two finance reports will be prepared and available for review by Legion members at the post.

The 8th Annual Poker Run and BBQ will be Postponed to a Later date this year

With the ever-changing environment surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19), The American Legion, Legion Aux, SAL, ALR and BBQ Committee made the following decision.  The 8th Annual Poker Run & BBQ contest will be postponed and rescheduled at a later day this year.  We are meeting on June 3rd for another planning meeting.  Our sponsors will be notified of this decision so that they may continue to support the public during this time.
This decision was not easy but, considering the existing constraints it would be near impossible to have this event.
The legion family will continue to support Veterans and their families during this time
Sincerely
Jim Walton
